Controllers & Kits

Controllers (also called hubs) are the center of a fully connected Smart Home, so it makes sense to start here. Since connected devices need to communicate with one another, they need a central networking device to link them together and a shared protocol. When choosing a controller and protocol, it is important to stick with one protocol for all devices (Z-Wave, Zigbee, HomeKit, Insteon, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth). Controllers also take the form of specialized devices, such as irrigation controllers for automating sprinkler systems. Often times kits are packaged with hubs and a few devices, so getting started on a Smart Home system is much easier.

Home Security Sensors

Keeping a vigilant eye for suspicious behavior has never been as hands-on as with the smart security sensors of today. Motion, light and tamper sensors can detect unusual activity and trigger a series of actions with devices and deliver instant mobile alerts. Advanced strings of actions can even be set up to trigger lights, alarms and other security measures across the network to maintain security.

Many traditional functions around the home can be improved with smart sensors, to deliver greater ease of use and more peace of mind. Automating light functions, harmful gas and smoke sensors, temperature control and other daily-use devices makes for a more fluid experience and often times energy savings. Certain sensors like water leak detectors can automatically shut off water valves if moisture is detected, preventing damage and delivering peace of mind no matter where you are.
