Windows 10 Comes in 7 Flavors, Which One Will You Need?
With a new Windows launch just around the corner it's a good time to decide which one is right for you.. Microsoft recently listed the breakdown on their own blog and, from what they are saying, it sounds like you could have Windows on everything you own: like one big happy family of devices across all types.
Windows 10 Home
Windows Home is your classic version for, you guessed it, home audiences. Windows 10 Home is designed for desktops, tablets and 2-in-1s. Expect to find this one installed most often.
Windows 10 Pro
Pro is similar to home, but adds some useful features for business. Pro is always the version I use, and is the copy most likely to be found in the PC enthusiast's machine. Just like how you don't want to be the kid with the base model car when there's a sportier version, you also don't want to be the one with the most basic version of Windows 10.
Windows 10 Enterprise
Enterprise has the added features of Windows 10 Pro and expands upon them with more features for IT. Enterprise is more aligned in the work environment, so expect to see this in the office. But this can also be seen in ATMs and other point-of-service devices as well.
Windows 10 Education
Education will have the features of enterprise, but will be available with academic volume licensing. Expect to see this one in classrooms and academic institutions. Students will be able to pick this one up for a better price too.
Windows 10 Mobile
Just as it sounds, Mobile version will be for Smartphones and small tablets.
Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise
Mobile enterprise also incorporates the basic mobile OS with some IT features like the standard enterprise version. So we will see this version on work-provided smartphones and tablets.
Windows 10 IoT
Internet of Things (IoT), is designed specifically for use with small footprint low-cost devices. We could expect to see this on everything from DIY projects to smart-enabled devices since it will be a very light install. I can't wait to see the projects developed using this version of Windows. And now we're hearing there will be three versions of this, too. Make sure you pick the right tool for the job.
Which Version Will You Buy?
I know I will be picking up Pro when it's out, but let us know which versions you plan to buy. And which one you plan to use the most.
